Concern Hotline 2025 Community Impact Report

Serving the Greater Northern Shenandoah Valley

At Concern Hotline, our mission has always been clear: to comfort, calm, and assist those in need through compassionate listening and empathetic support. As we reflect on 2025, we are proud to share the impact our volunteers, partners, and community have made together across the Greater Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Our Mission in Action

Concern Hotline provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services through a 24-hour hotline staffed by trained volunteers. Every call is answered with care, respect, and understanding—meeting people where they are during moments when support matters most.

Certification & National Recognition

In July 2025, Concern Hotline achieved an important milestone by becoming a certified member of the International Council of Helplines (ICH). This national certification recognizes the quality of our services and affirms our commitment to best practices in crisis response and community care.

Welcoming New Leadership

We are excited to welcome Tara Crawford as our new Program Coordinator. Tara brings valuable experience, leadership, and passion for community service. We are proud to have her on our team and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make.

Training the Next Generation of Listeners

Education and preparedness are at the heart of our work. This year, Concern Hotline completed:

  • 8 listener training sessions

  • 26 newly trained listeners, including 19 Shenandoah University students

  • 3 SafeTALK community trainings

These efforts strengthen our ability to respond effectively while expanding mental health awareness across our region.
