Volunteer
Concern Hotline recruits and trains our Community Volunteers to be Active Listeners - that is, to act as a sounding board or mirror to help callers to see their thoughts, feelings, and situations more clearly.
Qualifications
We are looking for compassionate and caring volunteers. New volunteers are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of Listener Training. Training focuses on active listening, the hotline’s major topics, and local resources for callers.
Candidates are asked to interview in person, submit references, and undergo a background check. Listeners must be at least 18 years of age. Volunteers are expected to commit to at least 1 4-hour shift per week and attend ongoing educational training. Shifts are flexible, and calls may be taken at home, via cell phone, or at our call center.
Concern Hotline is proud of our Volunteers…from the listeners to our special event staff. We offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities. Please consider giving a portion of your valuable time to our organization…and to your neighbors in their time of need!
